Team Laws is made up of Ben, Sam, Olivia and Ewan Laws. Around them are a huge amount of friends and family are pulling together to ensure the success of Team Laws
Ben is a tall skinny paramedic who works for the London Ambulance Service, all that kneeling down and standing back up again to tend to casualties we're sure is good work for his thighs. Dodging the punches of drunken out of control teenagers when attending an incident is also great for his reflexes.
His running has been likened to a " Drunk John Cleese". Not a good start!!!!
Ben appears to have the hydrodynamic qualities of a bus, and seems to float faster than he can swim - but that's where the coaches come in.
Ewan is a gorgeous little boy who arrived in January 2008, he has a cheeky smile and a wicked sense of humour. He loves books and it's recently come to light that he loves the wind in his hair and to be scared senseless. Happy days then.
Having served in the Army and completed a tour of Bosnia where she was a Combat Medic. Sam can be tough when she wants to be. Sam is also a paramedic in the same service as Ben, so the application of plasters and anti-septic cream on cut knees takes on a whole new meaning in the Laws household. Ben and Sam are always patching up their children and Sam is also responsible for team morale and applying common sense, which everyone else seems to be severely lacking.
Olivia is a happy 3 and a half year old who loves all things pink and she dotes on her younger brother and is fiercely proud of him. She likes riding her bike but doesn't like falling off!! Olivia is very much like her mother and thinks that Daddy is crazy for even thinking about doing "the silly race" with Ewan. She just wants to know if she can have a lolly when it's all over.
Darren runs elite sports consultancy Peak Performance Fitness, he put the support package together including the coaching. Darren is a keen triathlete himself, having completed a couple of Ironman's and a few half Ironmans. He even managed to string enough coherent words together to write a bestselling book on triathlon - 'How Triathlon Ruined My Life'.
Darren saw Ben's story and immediately put the plan into operation offering his services to put the plan together. Darren also does one to one coaching with Ben as well as mentoring him through the training, although one thing Ben is not lacking in is motivation!
